Cutting Board Maintenance
We are excited to welcome you to our family of cutting and charcuterie board lovers! We know that once you start using your new board, you'll be hooked and want to tell everyone about it.
When you receive your board, it will already be sealed with mineral oil. This helps protect the wood from moisture and also makes the board easier to clean and maintain.
Here's what you need to know to clean and maintain your board:
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Wood cutting boards should be cleaned promptly after each use. NEVER EVER submerge a wood cutting board in the water. Wood cutting boards are NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. (Just don't do it.)
Step 1: CLEANING
When food preparation is completed, clean all sides of the cutting board with mild soap and water. Most people only clean the top surface of the board, which will actually cause damage and shorten the board's life span. Allow the cutting surface to dry completely before attempting to re-season with oil or conditioner.
When the cutting board looks dry and lighter in color, cutting board oil or mineral spirits should be applied to prevent the board from cracking.
Step 2: OIL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply liberal amounts of oil or mineral spirits directly onto the surface of the board using a lint-free cloth or paper towels until all sides are coated evenly with oil or mineral spirits. You want to apply oil on all sides and edges of the board. Allow the oil to absorb into the wood for at least an hour or overnight if possible, then wipe the excess off with a paper towel or clean cloth.
